The Nifty Balloon Story
Who are these Nifty folks? How did they learn to make these amazing balloons? How many cats do they own? Inquiring minds need to know!
Dave and Shana Brenion are two world-class balloon artists living and working in Los Angeles, CA. They’ve grown from their roots as all-purpose children’s entertainers into their current status as leaders in the balloon industry. They’ve brought their unique blend of old-timey charm, quirky sense of humor, and jaw-dropping balloon creations across the globe, teaching and performing in Japan, France, Israel, and across the US. The two goofballs met at San Diego Comic Con in 2005 and it was nerd love at first sight. Dave was a clown and stilt-walker that had just begun twisting his first balloons and Shana was an executive assistant by day and stage performer by night. With their powers combined (and years of practice), they formed the company that would become Nifty Balloons in 2008.
Dave Brenion has been a children’s performer practically since he was a child himself. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Dave spent years under the tutelage of the great Ron Maslanka and began entertaining professionally as a clown while still in high school. He completed his BA in Music Theory from Rutgers in 2008 where he also was president of the juggling club and a member of the renowned Kirkpatrick Choir. In addition to Nifty Balloons, Dave has also made people smile as a cast member of the Pixar Play Parade at Disneyland, variety and vaudeville shows, and he is currently touring his one-man show "The Magic Balloon Book".
Shana Brenion was born in Ojai, California and began pursuing both performance and fine art from a young age. Shana became a member of the Illusions Theatre company at age eight and immediately became a fixture in the Ojai Valley theatre community. Shana attended UCSB for acting, she’s been a varsity member of the Ventura Improv Company, published her own line of independent comic books, and currently hosts a series of trivia and game nights across Southern California.
